Description

This 4-day journey takes you through Kanazawa, one of Japan’s best-preserved castle towns, and the Noto Peninsula, where the Sea of Japan meets traditional rural life. Spend two nights exploring Kanazawa’s samurai homes, gardens, and artisan districts before heading north along the coast to discover remote shrines, terraced rice fields, salt farms, and scenic cliffs.

Stay in a traditional ryokan in Noto and enjoy a hot spring bath and local seafood feast. The pace is relaxed, with ample time for wandering backstreets, enjoying seasonal cuisine, and connecting with the slower rhythms of regional Japan.

Day 1 – Arrival & Old Kanazawa:

  • Arrive in Kanazawa and check into a central boutique hotel

  • Visit Higashi Chaya geisha district and try gold leaf craft

  • Evening free to explore Katamachi or dine at a local izakaya

Day 2 – Gardens, Culture & Crafts:

  • Morning: stroll Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle

  • Afternoon: visit 21st Century Museum or a Kaga Yuzen dyeing workshop

  • Optional tea ceremony or dinner reservation at a fine kappo restaurant

Day 3 – Noto Peninsula Day & Night:

  • Depart by private car north along the coast

  • Stop at Chirihama Beach Drive, Sojiji Temple, Wajima Morning Market

  • Visit Senmaida rice terraces and Noto Kongo coastline

  • Check in to a ryokan with hot spring bath and full kaiseki dinner

Day 4 – Return to Kanazawa & Departure:

  • Scenic inland route back to Kanazawa

  • Optional visit to Notojima Glass Art Museum or a salt farm

  • Drop-off at Kanazawa Station or hotel depending on travel plans
